Julia M., wife of I. H. Kellogg, of Genesee Conference, was born April 9th, 1846, and died at Macedon Centre, New York, Feb. 27, 1890. She had been half a century in the itinerancy as the faithful helper of her husband. She was married in Buffalo where Brother Kellogg was pastor of Niagara Street Church, then the only Methodist Episcopal Church in the city. She had a long and varied experience, and occupied the position as pastor's wife on many of the most prominent appointments in Western New York: At Rochester: First Church, Rochester: Alexander Street, Rochester: North Street and Rochester: Hedding; at Clyde, Lyons, Palmyra, Newark, Lima, and many other places her memory is precious. She made a model pastor's wife. She was devoted to the work of the Church, quiet, unassuming and discreet, winning the hearts of the people by her attractive manners and her Christian kindness. For some time she had been in delicate health, and the closing weeks were marked by great suffering; but she bore it patiently and when the end drew near the victory was complete. Just before she passed away she exclaimed "The Saviour! the Saviour! Glory hallelujah!" She has left her earthly home desolate. Her aged companion would be well-nigh heart broken were it not for the fact that the Gospel he has preached for fifty years is his solace now. Besides the bereaved husband, Sister Kellogg left in her home a daughter, Mrs Frances Mandeville, and two granddaughters. The funeral services were held on Sabbath, March 2, at the church in Macedon Center, New York, and were largely attended. The pastor, F. C. Thompson, was assisted by the Rev. John Cline, the Rev. Mr. Mott and Professor Clark.
