Lawson J. Cook, Born February 9, 1888 near St. Francis, Kansas, died Friday, July 28, at the age of 90 years at St. Joseph Hospital in Denver, Colo.
He was the oldest member and pitcher of the Cook Brothers' baseball team.
He was the son of John and Theresa (Ittner) Cook. He spent most of his life farming in Cheyenne County until 1945 when he retired and moved to Denver, Colo.
He was united in marriage April 12, 1915 to Anastacia F. Heitmann. To this union there were nine children.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Anastacia, his daughter, Elizabeth Clark; his brothers, Grover, Frank, and William, and his sister, Maude Miller.
Survivors include: Sons and daughters, Joseph L. Cook, Salt Lake City, Utah; John A. Cook, St. Francis; Margaret Carl, Littleton, Colo.; Marjorie Hansen, Littleton, Colo.; Alice Ballinger, Atascadero, Calif.; Tom G. Cook, Englewood, Colo.; Duane Cook, Denver, Colo., and a host of grandchildren and great-granchildren, five brothers: Jim, John, Ed. George, and Joe and two sisters, Margaret Mitchell and Jenny Muro.
Funeral services were held August 2, at 10 a.m. at St. Francis Catholic church in St. Francis. Fr. Mark officiated. Burial was in the St. Francis Cemetery.
