F. S. STROM DEAD
His Death Occurs at 2 O'clock This Morning After a Lingering Illness of Several Weeks
Foeder (sic) Frederick Samuel Strom, aged 61 years, died at 2 o'clock this morning after a long illness, with liver complaint. The funeral will take place at 1:30 p. m. tomorrow, from the home at 609 Spring avenue south, and at 2 p. m. from the Norwegian church at the corner of Twelfth street and Dakota avenue. Rev. N. Boe, pastor of that church, will officiate.
Mr. Strom was one of the most prominent and highly respected Norwegians in this section of the state. He was born in Christianna, Norway, and came to the United States in 1879. He first located at Decorah, Ia., and has since lived in LaCrosse, Milwaukee, Aberdeen, Jackson, Minn., and Sioux Falls. Since living here he has been business manager of the Syd Dakota Ekko, and a leader in all that was of special interest to the Scandinavian people. He was also a business manager of the Sioux Falls hospital, was a member of the Valhalla Club, and the Minnehaha Mandskor Club, and was an inveterate worker in all these lines.
His wife and his daughters, Mrs. O. H. Smith, and Misses Ella and Rebecca Strom, his son Henrek and wife of Jackson Minn., and Mrs. Herman Strom of Jackson were at his bedside when the end came. Mr. Herman Strom will arrive tonight. O. H. Smith of Dell Rapids, Mr. Strom's son-in-law, was also in attendance.
The regret and sorrow which will be occasioned by the news of Mr. Strom's death will be by no means confined to the Scandinavians. Mr. Strom was a progressive, enterprising and courageous man, a loyal citizen, and in his death the community receives a blow which will be keenly feel.
