Mary Green Bullock was born on 7 Apr 1861 probably in the Boonville area of Warrick County, Indiana. Although no vital records are in my possession to identify exact location of her birth, based on her parent’s residence in Boonville, Warrick County, I am confident she was born in that area. Her parents were Green Allen Bullock and Elizabeth Jane Hedge or Hedges. She had 7 known siblings; Sarah, John Allen, Rachel E, David C, Charles L, Lear, and Thomas Jefferson.

Early in life, she lived with her parents in Warrick County, Indiana. According to the 1860 census taken on 6 Sep 1860, her family was living near Boonville in Boon Township, Warrick County, Indiana. According to the 1870 Census taken on 23 Jul 1870, they were still living near Boonville in Boon Township, Warrick County, Indiana. At the time, Mary was 8 years old and lived with her widowed mother Elizabeth (47) and her 3 siblings; Charles (16), Lear (14), and Thomas (12). After her marriage to James in 1878, it appears they stayed in the area. According to the 1880 census taken on 22 Jun 1880, they were living in Boon Township, Warrick County, Indiana. At the time, Mary Hadley was 19 years old and her spouse James Hadley (23) and their daughter Rosa (2) all lived with her mother Elizabeth (54) and her brother, Thomas (23). According to the 1900 census taken on 4 Jun 1900, they were living near Boonville, Boon Township, Warrick, Indiana. At the time, Mary G Hadley was 39 years old and lived with her spouse JW Hadley (41) and their 4 children; Charlie (14), Shirley (13), Willie (10), and Grace (7). It appears she lived in the area until her death in 1904.

At the age of 16, Mary married James Wesley Hadley on 17 Feb 1878 in Warrick County, Indiana. It appears Mary and James had 8 children, however only 7 are known; Rosa Alice, Nettie I, Charles Wesley, Shirley Thomas, William Allen, Grace Florence and Bert F. According to the 1900 census she had an unknown child pass away prior to 1900.

Mary passed away at the age of 43 on Sunday, 17 Apr 1904 at her home in Bullocktown in Warrick County, Indiana. Funeral services were conducted by R.M. Barrett at Bethany Church at 10:30 AM on 19 Apr 1904. She was laid to rest in Bullock Cemetery (aka Hedges Cemetery) in Boonville, Warrick County, Indiana.
