A. Ed Collins, 68, of 195 Talmadge Drive, a retired 14-year sheet metal worker at Keeburg Sheet Metal in Chicopee, died in Baystate Medical Center.

He retired in 1986.

Born in Liverpool, Lancs., England, he lived in Springfield for the past 30 years.

He was a member of Sheet Metal Workers Union Local 63, which cited him as outstanding craftsman of 1987. He designed and built the copper dome for the gazebo in Springfield's Court Square.

He was the founder and president of the Brookside Soccer Club and the Pioneer Valley Junior Soccer League.

He leaves his wife, the former Doreen Leach; a daughter, Susan Ciavola of Springfield, and two grandchildren.
