On August 10, 1903 she married Morrison E. Meriam in Berkeley, California. Mr. Meriam, also of early New England descent, had established himself in Chico in the fall of 1902 and was a professor at the State Normal School, later to become Chico State University. Annie Lund Meriam remained in Chico until her death on December 29, 1937. She had one son, Theodore, born in Chico April 18, 1910.
Her ancestry stemmed from a number of early New England families, most of whom had arrived in New England in the late 1620s up to 1650. Early family names included Bradstreet, Brown, Chandler, Dodge, Fisk, Fowler, Howe, Jackson, Peabody, Rayment, Sargent and Taylor.
In 1900, while teaching in North Adams, Massachusetts, Annie Lund joined the Fort Massachusetts Chapter, D.A.R., of North Adams. Her great, great grandfather, John Fowler enlisted as a Minute Man in Ipswich, Massachusetts January 24, 1775 and participated in the Battle of Bunker Hill.
An entry in Mrs. Meriam's diary, dated February 3, 1906 reads, "Had several ladies here in afternoon to see if we can do something toward organizing a D.A.R. chapter here." But, apparently there was little interest. An entry in the diary on October 19, 1919 was, "Have begun gathering a few people for a D.A.R. chapter", and on October 21, 1919, "Called on Mrs. H.K. Sears about joining D.A.R. Found her responsive."
