DEATH CALLS A BELOVED MOTHER HOME
Last Sunday morning at 9:00 the bell of Salem's church tolled off the tale of years that measured the life of Mrs. Rosina Gartzke. Mrs. Gartzke had been ill only a week with bowel trouble. In spite of good care and medical attention, she passed away as stated above.
Mr. and Mrs. August Gartzke came to Blue Earth from Prussia in 1869 and made their home about four miles east of the city where they were faithful attendants and members of the Evangelical church. A few years ago they left the old farm where they were so well known and respected and came here to make their home with their daughter Mrs. Albert Hacklander.
The funeral service was held at the church Tuesday afternoon, Revs. Gongoll, Kienholz and Bauman taking part. The service was most impressive and was listened to by a large congregation of sorrowing friends and old neighbors. The funeral cortege was one of the largest that has followed the remains of an old settler to the Blue Earth cemetery (Riverside).
Two sons, Gustav and Rudolph, and four daughters, Mrs. Amelia Hacklander, Mrs. Alvina Willmert, Mrs. Martha Schaffer [sic], of St. Charles, Minn. and Mrs. August Werner, join their bereaved father in mourning a great loss.
