Claude Louks, West Jefferson street, guard at the state reformatory at Pendleton and former Tipton police chief and county sheriff, died following a heart attack suffered Monday afternoon at Pendleton while he was resting before going on duty. Mr. Louks was 63 years old. Funeral services are planned at 2 p.m. Thursday at the Leatherman-Morris Funeral home with Rev. Robert W. Morris, pastor of the West Street Christian church, in charge. Burial will be in Fairview cemetery. The body will lie in state at the funeral home after noon today. Active in Democratic politics, Mr. Louks had served as county chairman for the party and for two years served with the Indiana state police as a lieutenant. About 1922, Mr. Louks served two years as Tipton police chief and following that was elected sheriff for two terms. He joined the state police after serving as sheriff. Born June 10, 1885 in Tipton
county, Mr. Louks was the son of James William and Mary (Gillimore) Louks. A resident of Tipton county most of his life. Mr. Louks married Miss Cleo Thompson in the county. She died in 1937. Mr. Louks attended Tipton county schools and was a former member of the Kemp Methodist church.
Survivors are one brother, Cecil Louks of Longview, Tex.;
two sisters, Mrs. Mabel Clidence, of Kempton and Mrs. Ethel Nauman, of Detroit, Mich., and one niece, Mrs. Geraldine Kline, of Detroit.
