Rita Norcille Andersen, 74, died Monday, January 4, 2010, in her residence.
She was a native of Church Point and had been a resident of Sulphur for over 60 years. She was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church where she was involved in the Ladies Altar Society, the Catholic Daughters, and had previously been a Echaristic Minister. Rita volunteered as a Pink Lady with West Calcasieu Cameron Hospital. Her career spanned many years in the banking industry and until her illness, she was employed by Proctor and Gamble. She enjoyed spending time doing volunteer work, being with family, and tending to her roses.
She is preceded in death by her husband, James Wendell Andersen. Survivors include their children, Dorlena Pickle and husband, Terry, Kay Landry and husband, Doug, Penny Goldman, Mike Andersen and wife, Talicia, and Diana Andersen, all of Sulphur; two sisters, Rose Ann Henry of DeQuincy and Bert Guidry of Sulphur; ten grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and her beloved dog, Neeko.
Her funeral will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday, January, 6, in Immaculate Conception Catholic Church. The Rev. Aubrey Guilbeau and Deacon Bud Wagner will officiate. Burial will be in Mimosa Pines Cemetery South in Carlyss under the direction of Hixson-Sulphur Memorial Funeral Home. Visitation is from 4 p.m. to 9 p.m. Tuesday with a scripture service at 6 p.m. and from 10 a.m. Wednesday in the funeral home. The family would like to thank Dr. Ben Thompson, Dr. Leroy Fredericks, Odyssey Hospice, and her caregivers, Kristy, Nicole, and Angie, for their love, compassion, and concern for Mrs. Andersen. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorial donations be made to LOPA, 4441 N. I-10 Svc. Road, West Metairie, LA 70006.
