James C. Swafford, 78, of Homosassa, passed away January 4, 2010, in Brooksville. He was born to James and Odessa (Dobbs) Swafford on February 1, 1931, in Akron, OH. He was a veteran of the United States Air Force, and then worked as a pipe fitter for most of his life. James and his family moved to the area in 1983 from Ohio. He was a member of the Plumbers and Pipe Fitters Local 111, loved to fish, loved his baseball, and loved his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, James and Odessa Swafford; his brother, Robert Swafford; and his sister, Peggy Koons. James is survived by his wife, Geraldine J. Swafford of Homosassa, FL; children, James Lee Swafford of Crystal River, FL, Tammy Louise Swafford of Homosassa, FL, Frank Mikos of Crystal River, FL, and Darlene of St. Louis, MO; grandchildren, Jimmy Head, Bobby Head, Ricky Rutkosky, Jesse Mikos, Becky Mikos, Frank Mikos, and Brittney Mikos; and great-grandchildren, Joshua Head, Robert Head and Natalee Mikos.
A memorial service for James will be held at noon, Thursday, January 7, 2010, at Brown Funeral Home & Crematory in Lecanto, with family receiving friends from 11:30 p.m. until service time. Pastor Joseph Schroeder of the First Baptist Church of Lake Rousseau will be officiating.
