Passed away on July 30, 2009 at the age of 74 in Hampton, VA. He was a Schoolcraft, MI native and a graduate of Western Michigan. LTC Best was a Soldier's Soldier, an Airborne Ranger, a highly decorated Combat Veteran, a Soldier Statesman, a loving son, husband, father, grandfather, and a true friend. He served his country for over thirty years in the best and worst of times. He is survived by his mother, Marie and his children Diane, Craig, and Eric. He will be sadly missed. Funeral services will be performed at Fort Custer National Cemetery on Friday, November 6, 2009 at 1:00 PM.
