Stephen F. Nemechek was born to Ferdinand and Agatha (Hoffman) Nemechek on Dec 25 1887 in Austria and passed away at Trego County- Lemke Memorial Hospital, Jan 30, 1967 at the age of 79 years, after a short illness.
He came to the United States at the age of 12 and settled with his parents at Ellis, Kansas. At the age of 18 he moved to South Graham County and spent his entire life farming.
He was united in marriage Nov 26, 1907 to Philomena Reitmayer at Ellis, Kansas. To this union was born 8 children: Catherine Umstead, Regina Aschenbrenner, Joh, Helen Lessor, Ferdinand, Agatha Denning, Carl and Leo. On April 24, 1921, his wife Philomena preceded him in death.
He was united in marriage to Barbara Schuster on October 11, 1921 at Ellis Kansas. To this union was born 4 children: Stephen, Leonard (who preceded him in death), Barbara Parke, and Dorothy Rourke.
He is survived by 2 brothers: Louis, WaKeeney; Joe, Madus, Oregon; and 3 sisters, Lonnie Kent, Norton; Mary Sanders, Hays; and Theresa Smith, Wichita; also 56 granchildren, 26 great granchildren and 2 great grandchildren.
Funeral services were held at 10 a.m. at Christ the King Church, Feb 2, 1967. Interment at St Mary's Cemetery at Ellis, Kansas, with Fr. Killian Dreiling, C.P.P.S, officiating.
