Clara Belle Crampton, the daughter of Thomas and Morna Eggleston Crampton, was born January 28, 1918, on a farm northwest of Farnam, Nebraska, where she lived until she was married. She was baptized in the Episcopal Church, March 25, 1920, and joined the Eustis Methodist Church, April 9, 1939.

John and Clara were united in marriage at North Platte on April 12, 1938. To this union four children were born: Milan John, Kathleen Jo, Patty Lou and Thomas Edwin.

The family lived on their farm northeast of Farnam, Nebraska all their married life until June of 1971 when they retired and moved to Farnam where they were active in church and community affairs. In December of 1948 they transferred their church membership to the Farnam Methodist Church where both served faithfully. John received his 50-year membership pin in 1970 and served on the board of trustees. Clara was Benevolence Treasurer of the church and was president of the U and I Extension Club.

John and Clara died in a car accident at Elm Creek, Nebraska, March 21, 1972. They were preceded in death by one daughter. Clara is preceded in death by her father.

They leave to mourn their death one daughter, Patty Reese and son-in-law, Eldon of Holbrook, Ne, two sons; Milan and wife Vicki, of Melcher, Iowa, and Thomas and wife, Sandy of Farnam; two grandchildren, Lynee Ann Reese and Jean Kathleen Bosch, six nephews, three nieces and many other relatives and friends.

Clara is also survived by her mother, Morna Crampton, two sisters, Mrs. Lynn (Valeria) Messersmith and Mrs. Lawrence (Marie) Baker all of Farnam.

Funeral services were held in the Farnam High School Auditorium Friday, Mar. 24, at 2:30 p.m. with Rev. Conley Hinrichs officiating.
