She was married to Johnnie Oliver Gunn in 1930, who predeceased her. She graduated from Louisburg Junior College and was a school teacher. She was a member of Yanceyville United Methodist Church, where she taught Sunday school for 57 years. She was a member of W.S.C.S, in which she held a variety of local and district offices. She was a charter member of Caswell Chapter 239 of the Order of the Eastern Star, serving in various offices.
Survivors include a son, Johnnie Oliver Gunn, Jr. of Sebring, FL; a daughter Ann Gunn Everitt of Yanceyville; and two grandchildren.
