Claud M. Cope of Crane Creek township, was born in Stone County, MO, Dec. 2, 1869, lived twice in Barry County and returned to Barry County in 1901, where he resided on a fine farm in the Crane Creek Valley, 1 1/2 miles east of Osa. In January 1891 he married Miss Margaret Seitz of Barry county, and to this marriage nine children were; Wallace Carmel, Leonal Oxford, Agatha, Robert Clinton, Harry Alonzo, Hollie Mary, Jewell, Carl & Landis Seitz. He was a prominent Democrat and a great believer in fine stock and the improvement of this county.
