Lucille Briggs, 83, of Enterprise, died at home June 22, 2003, with her husband, Bud, and daughter, Sue, with her. She was born in Enterprise June 20, 1920, to Ben M. and Laura L. (Hunt) Peal.

Mrs. Briggs grew up in Joseph where her father ran a gas station (which is now the location of the Outlaw Restaurant) and graduated from Joseph High School in 1938. She married Bud Briggs in 1940. Except for seven years in Cougar, Wash., where Bud worked at a Pacific Power and Light power plant, the couple always made their home in Wallowa County.

Survivors include her husband of 63 years, Bud; a daughter, Sue, of Enterprise; a son, Gayle, of Sherwood; two grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her twin sister Louise in 1986.

Graveside services will be held at the Prairie Creek Cemetery near Joseph on Friday, June 17, at 11 a.m. with vault interment to follow. Memorial contributions may be made to Wallowa County Hospice, care of the Bollman Funeral Home.
