Joseph "Apple Joe" Sakall, 85, of Monroe, died at 3:30 a.m. Saturday at Fountain View of Monroe.
Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Sunday and 2 to 8 p.m. Monday at Rupp Funeral Home, where services will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday. Burial will be in Roselawn Memorial Park, LaSalle.
Born September 4, 1924 in Royal Oak, Michigan, he was the son of Basil and Juliana (Bese) Sakall. He married Lucille Short September 15, 1945 in Petersburg, Michigan; she preceded him in death on September 12, 2009.
He had worked for Monroe Auto Equipment and Teledyne Corp.
He was a past member of the 4th Street Church of God where he had also been a Sunday School Teacher.
He is survived by his son Leslie "Butch" Sakall of Weidman, Michigan; three brothers, Ammiel Sakall, Basil Sakall and Daniel Sakall; two sisters, Mary Fredreck and Magdalene Sakall Strodse; two grandchildren, Brian and Heather Sakall.
In addition to his wife, he is preceded in death by a brother John Sakall; three sisters, Lydia Stevens, Elizebeth Breitkreitz and Esther Sakall.
