Walter H. Chew of Bristol passed away at Frankford Hospital in Philadelphia Tuesday, Jan. 5, 2010, surrounded by his family. He was 82.

Born and raised in Hatfield, he was a resident of Philadelphia before moving to Bristol 55 years ago.

He was the founder of Action Safe & Lock, and retired 24 years ago.

In his youth, he traveled extensively throughout the world with the Merchant Marines. Later, he entered the U.S. Army.

He was preceded in death by his sons, Bruce and Gregory.

He will be greatly missed by his wife of 63 years, Lucia (Gattis); his sons, Kenny and his wife, Cindy, of Bensalem and Dennis Chew of Bristol Township; his daughter, Luanne Jacobs and her husband, Charlie, of Bristol Township; his grandchildren Kenny Jr., Bruce Jr., Bryan, Kevin, Shane, and Aver; and seven adoring great-grandchildren. He also is survived by his brother, Jerry Chew and sister, Arlene, both of Florida; and many nieces and nephews.
Arrangements are being made through Galzerano Funeral Home, Bristol, PA.
