Oliver Irvin Alton was born in Feb.1872 in Knox Co.,In. the son of Monroe & Margaet Anness (Bonham) Alton. This Monroe was the son of John Westley & Anna (Burris) Alton. He married Sarah Edith Root (b. 21 Jun.1888 in Kansas) abt. 1913/14 in ( ? ). They were the parents of 2 boys & 1 girl : Leonard Irvin b.21 Apr.1915 in Kansas, Donald M. b.1916 in Kansas, & Esther J. b. abt.1923/24 in Indiana. He was evidentally a vet. of the Spanish American War,(see photo). He died in 1939 and is buried between his wife and son Leonard and is buried in Alton Cemetery, which is located just south of the 4 lane hwy 50 on S. Anson Rd.,take the first road on the right, which is Co Rd SE 200 S (E Palmyra Rd) and the Alton Cemetery is on the right on top of a hill.
