Gladys Lyons Abercrombie, 101, of Laurens, SC, passed away Friday, January 8, 2010, at Martha Franks Baptist Retirement Center.

Born in Greenville County, SC; daughter of the late Samuel Henry Lyons (1881–1976) and Roxie Anna Tumblin Lyons (1881–1969); widow of Herbert Abercrombie.

Samuel Henry Lyons (1881–1976) and Roxie Anna Tumblin Lyons (1881–1969); wife of Thomas Herbert Abercrombie (1910–1984).

Retired from Laurens Shirt Corporation, was a charter member of Welcome Baptist Church and the Metallic Club, and was the last surviving member of her immediate family.

Surviving are her daughters, Lois Revis and Anna Faye Childress; four grandchildren; five great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren.

Graveside services were held at 2:00 pm, Monday, January 11, 2010, at Welcome Baptist Church Cemetery conducted by Rev. Charlie Short and Rev. Howard E. Suttles.

The family received friends in the church one hour prior to the service.

Memorials could be made to Martha Franks Baptist Retirement Center, Laurens, SC; or a charity of one's choice.
