Margaret E. Ahland, Age 83, Of Palmyra, Missouri, Passed Away At 7:11 A. M. Sunday, January 3, 2010 At Luther Manor Nursing Home In Hannibal, Mo. Margaret Was Born January 5, 1926 In Marion County, Missouri To Carl F. And Minnie Dietle Ahland. Survivors Include:Sister, Ruth Ahland Of Palmyra; Nieces And Nephews; Barbara Bumgarner & Husband Ed Of Las Vegas, NV; Margaret Goodson Of Quincy; Carl " Sonny " Ahland Of Monroe City, MO; Dora Rothweiler & Husband Joe Of Palmyra. Also, Numerous Great Nieces And Nephews And Great Great Niece And Nephews. She Was Preceded In Death By Her Parents And A Brother, Franklin Ahland. Ms. Ahland Retired As The Principal And Administrator Of The Zion Lutheran School In Palmyra. She Was A Former School Teacher At Todd & Fabius Country Schools And Jackson & Lincoln/ Baldwin Public Schools In Quincy. She Was A Graduate Of Palmyra High School Class Of 1943. She Also Attended Hannibal La Grange College, Culver Stockton College And The University Of Illinois. Ms. Ahland Had Served As President Of The Palmyra Cemetery Association. She Was A Member Of Zion Lutheran Church In Palmyra Where She Was A Member Of The Sonshine Club And The Ladies Aid As Well As Serving On Numerous Church Boards And Councils. Funeral Services Will Be Held At 1:00 P.M. Wednesday At The Zion Lutheran Church In Palmyra. REV. DAVID JOHNSON Will Officiate. Burial Will Be At The Greenwood Cemetery In Palmyra, Missouri. Visitation Will Be From 6-8:00 P. M. Tuesday At The Lewis Brothers Funeral Chapel. Memorial Contributions May Be Made To Zion Lutheran Church And/Or Palmyra Nutrition Center .
