He served his country in the Air Force for eight years where among his commendation were the Air Force Commendation medal, Good Conduct medal with one Oak Leaf cluster, Air Force Longevity Service award and National Defense Service medal. He later retired as a police officer from the Clark County School District in Las Vegas, NV and was currently employed by Travis County.
He is survived by his father, Jesus H. Garza, Sr., mother, Flora L. Garza of Austin; wife of 22 years, Michelle Garza; daughter, Jessica Garza of Austin; sons, Jesus H. Garza III, of Kalispel "Cowsbell", MT and Joshua Garza of Las Vegas, NV; nine grandchildren; brothers and sisters, Dale Garza of Del Valle, Estela Gonzalez of Angleton, TX, Johnnie Garza of Austin, David Garza of Russellville, AR, James Garza of Las Vegas, NV and Letty Lufrano of Phoenix, AZ. Preceded in death by his brother, Joe Garza; his step-daughter, Amanda Burkes.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 9:00 P.M. Wednesday with recitation of the Holy Rosary at 7:00 P.M. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 10:00 A.M. Thursday at San Jose Catholic Church with interment to follow at Assumption Cemetery.
Jesse was a born leader of his family, a determined man and a loved friend.
