He served in the United States Marine Corp during World War II. He married Maralyn Baker. They lived in Reedsport for thirty years, where he owned the One Stop Market and the wrecking yard. He enjoyed genealogy and was able to trace the Hanson family back to the 1600s.
He was preceded in death by a son, Jeff, in 1985.
He is survived by his wife, Maralyn Hanson of Reedsport; son and daughter-in-law, Daniel and Wanda Hanson of Wenatchee, Wash.; daughters, Carol Hanson of Dayton and Connie Howard of Springfield, Mo.; five grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; brothers, Wendell Hanson of Denver, Colo., Charles Hanson of Kansas, and Harvey Hanson of Sacramento, Calif.; and a sister Jo James of Sacramento.
No services will be held. The family suggests memorial contributions may be made to the March of Dimes, 1410 Oak St. #101, Eugene Or. 97401. Dunes Memorial Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
