George O. Beals served as a 1st Lieutenant in Company B, 39th Engineer Combat Battalion, United States Army during World War II.

He was a son of Orlando and Helen Beals.

He was killed in action during Operation "Husky", the Allied invasion of Sicily on July 16, 1943.

He was initially buried on July 21, 1943 in the temporary American cemetery at Gela, Sicily in plot/grave C-25-291.

He enlisted in the U.S. Army on November 28, 1941 at Ft. George G. Meade, Maryland.

He served as a Corporal in the Army Corps of Engineers until October 27, 1942.

He received a promotion to Lieutenant on October 28, 1942.

He was originally from Conemaugh, Pennsylvania.

He was married to Lois J. Lindell on October 10, 1942 in Washington, DC.

He was a recipient of the Silver Star Medal and the Purple Heart.

He was interred in the Gettysburg National Cemetery on July 23, 1948.
