Theodore R. Carnes Sr., 72, of 1021 Third Ave., Oberlin, died Saturday in Polyclinic Medical Center.

He was retired as a live-in maintenance worker from the Dauphin County Housing Authority; worked at Hoy Towers, Swatara Twp., was a former employee of Camp Hill Art Press, Harrisburg, and a former clerk for Giant Foods in Middletown; an Army veteran of World War II and a Purple Heart recipient; a past president of the former Steelton River Rescue; a member and former eucharistic minister of St. James Catholic Church, Steelton; and a member of Steelton American Legion Post 420.

Surviving are his wife, Kathy Carnes; four sons, Russell E. Carnes of Camp Hill, Theodore R. Carnes Jr. and Dana M. Hinkle, both of Steelton, and Milton C. Carnes, at home; four daughters, Dorothy A. Koons of Hershey, Kathy L. Sviben of Steelton, Ida S. Carnes, at home, and Beth A. Carnes of Middletown; a brother, Milton of Steelton; two sisters, Marion Krahling of Steelton and Mary Ann Lewis of Middletown; 12 grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Wednesday in his church. Burial will be in Indiantown Gap National Cemetery.

Viewing will be from 9 to 9: 45 a.m. Wednesday in Wiedeman Funeral Home, Steelton.
