Dr. Aaron Ames is the third name on the membership list of the Manville Christian Church. The first 13 names on the list probably were founding members in 1830, but there are no dates next to their names. The first names with dates are from 1836. It is possible the church met, but did not fully organize in the first few years. Ames was reported to have been a minister of the church by a History of Milton Township.
