Donald E. Smith II, 53, passed away Monday, January 11, 2010 at the Providence Medical Center in Kansas City, KS.
Donald was born November 3, 1956 in Atchison, KS the son of Donald and Mavis (Hall) Smith. Mr. Smith worked for Swift Transportation as a recruiter and trainer for 22 years. He was a member of McCarthy Baptist Church; he enjoyed cooking, playing pool, bowling, bass fishing, cards, was an avid KU and Chiefs fan, but especially enjoyed his family.
Survivors include his parents Donald and Mavis Smith, two sons; Brett (Janelle) Smith, St. Joseph, MO, Scott Smith, St. Joseph, MO, two daughters; Erica (Matthew) Marks, St. Joseph, MO, Alicia Smith, St. Joseph, MO, an ex-wife Connie Stubber, St. Joseph, MO, three brothers, Wendall (Kim) Smith, Atchison, KS, Marty Smith, TX, Jason (Adriana) Hawk, TX, two sisters; Cindy (George) Maddox, Scarlet Smith, TX, two grandchildren Hannah Smith and Ezekiel Smith and many nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be 11:00 AM, Friday, January 15, 2010 at Becker-Dyer-Stanton Funeral Home, with Dr. David Mason officiating. Burial will follow in the Oak Hill Cemetery, Atchison, KS. The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 PM, Thursday, January 14, 2010 at the Green Valley Baptist Church, St. Joseph MO.
