Dorothy Marie Seaman was born August 17, 1922. When she was only six, her mother Eva Marie died, so Dorothy was raised by her grandparents Sam & Lillie Gibson in Atlantic, IA. Dorothy met Edwin Preuss, the love of her life, when they were teenagers, and on September 27, 1942, they eloped to Maryville, MO, where they were secretly married. For six weeks, they told no one. She lived with her family in Atlantic, and he lived with his parents in Shelby. When Ed was sent to San Francisco, CA, in the Army, she joined him, which was when everyone learned they had married.
Dorothy and Ed were blessed with three children, Darwin, Janice and Carolyn, and grandchildren Tina, Doug, Matt, Sara, Ryan and Morgan. Dorothy worked at the Shelby School, where she was the principal's secretary for 22 years, until her death on September 19, 1990. She was a very special lady, and loved by all.
