Darl A Shanafelt was the son of John Gire and Gertrude (Everhart) Shanafelt.

Clarion - Funeral arrangements have been announced for Darl A. (Shinny) Shanafelt, 74, of 421 Rear Liberty St., Clarion. Mr. Shanafelt died Monday, August 6, 1990, at DuBois Regional Medical Center West. Born April 17, 1916, in Leatherwood, Clarion County, he was a son of John and Gertrude (Everhart) Shanafelt. He married the former Dorothy Margaret Cyphert on April 1,1937. She survives.

He was a World War II veteran serving as corporal in the Army. He was employed in the parts department at Zacherl Motor Truck Sales in Clarion. He was a member of the Liberty Street Church of God in Clarion.

In addition to his wife, Dorothy Shanafelt of Clarion, he is survived by two daughters, Mrs. Ray (Bonnie) Dunkle of Clarion and Mrs. Phil (Linda) Lucas of Mars; a brother, Boyd Shanafelt of Clarion; one sister, Blanch Baum of Seattle, Wash., three grandchildren, Marcy Lucas, Douglas Dunkle and Sandra Gatesman; and one great-grandson, Mitchell Gatesman. Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 8, at the Goble Funeral Home in Clarion. Services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, at the funeral home. Officiating will be Rev. Greg Smith of the Liberty Street Church of God and Rev. Brooks Linn, a retired pastor and former pastor of the Liberty Street Church of God. Internment will be at Cedarview Memorial Park. The family suggests memorial donations be made to the National Kidney Foundation.
