Marilee was born in Chicago, Cook County, Illinois to Anthony and Leonore Hill Carpenter on August 29, 1924. At sixteen, she moved to California with her younger brother Roger. She graduated from Beverly Hills High School in 1942.
While working at Twentieth Century Fox Studios as a production assistant, she met aspiring actor Denver Pyle. They were married in 1955 and brought two sons, David and Tony, into the world in 1956 and 1957 respectively. Marilee advised and assisted Denver throughout his fifty-year career in motion pictures and television - uninterrupted by their divorce in 1970 - until his death in 1997.
Marilee was a proud homemaker for fifty-five years, creating beautiful homes in Toluca Lake, Burbank, and on Balboa Island. She was a devoted and loving single parent. A "Local" on Balboa Island for nearly 50 years, Marilee was active in her church, St. John Vianney, as well as in various bridge groups and the Newport Beach Yacht Club.
Marilee's effervescent smile, infectious laughter, sharp wit and loving heart will be missed by all who knew her.
Funeral Services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, January 22, 2010 in Our Lady Queen of Angels, 2046 Mar Vista Drive, Newport Beach, California, with a celebration of her life to follow at the Ritz Restaurant, 880 Newport Center Drive, Newport Beach, California.
