My Papa Riley, was a soft spoken man, who loved hunting dogs and whittling. I can still recall as a little girl, pulling up to my Granny's (Ettie Miller's) home, the little pink house on the corner in Athens, and seeing my precious Papa Riley sitting in a green metal chair under the big tree patiently whittling. I will never forget the aroma of the house when you walked through the back door... or the calm, soft demeanor I felt in his presence.
I wish I could go back and tell you how much I love and appreciate you waiting on her til you could see her again in Heaven. I love you Papa Riley. Thank you.

On November 26, 1955, Riley Miller survived a car accident in Dade County, Florida, however his beloved wife Mary Eunice (Todd) Miller did not.

In years after the accident, Riley, when asked if he would remarry would respond, "No one can hold a light to my wife Mary." Following the accident, Riley moved home with his parents , W Jess and Ettie Miller, until his mother got sick and could no longer care for him. Riley moved into a nursing home in the spring of 1987....

Riley Miller went to Heaven to see his wife Mary on May 20, 1987. He is survived by his mother Ettie Viola Miller (Alice Eldridge) of Athens, son Billy Ray Miller, daughter Marilyn Joyce Miller Loggins, and a host of grandchildren as well as great grandchildren. He is proceeded in death by his wife Mary Eunice Todd Miller and father W "Jess" Miller both of Athens.

With love respect and gratitude.
