Services for James Orval Ballard, 97, Ada, are 2 p.m. Tuesday at Asbury United Methodist Church, the Rev. Don Griffin will officiate. Burial will follow at Rosedale Cemetery. Mr. Ballard died Friday, Jan. 15, 2010, at his home. He was born Jan. 27, 1912, in Jones Chapel Community, west of Ada to James Curry and Lillie Mae Dunham Ballard.He lived in this area all his life and attended Jones Chapel school and Vanoss High School. He married Lorene Roddy on Dec. 24, 1938. Mr. Ballard was an auto mechanic and salesman at Ada Implement Company for many years and a longtime member of Asbury United Methodist Church. Survivors include his wife, Lorene Ballard, of the home; two sons, Jim Ballard and wife Nyta, Ada, and Jerry Ballard and wife Vickie, Ada; two daughters, Anita Arbabi and husband Houshang, Ada, and Sue Russ and husband Alvin, Stratford; eight grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.He was preceded in death by two brothers, Bill and Andrew Ballard; and two sisters, Rose Nolen and Myrtle Ballard.
