Avis Sheffield, age 87, of Brownwood, Texas passed away July 30, 2010 in Brownwood, Texas. She was born to Roy and Lela Click March 1, 1923 in Voca, Texas.

She married Clyde Marcus "Sug" Sheffield on December 23, 1937. She lived most of her life in Brownwood. She worked as a waitress and at Brownwood Manufacturing, but was first and foremost a wife and mother. She was a true Proverbs 31 woman, always putting others before herself. She was everyone's "Nanny" and was dearly loved. Avis was an active member of Southside Church and dearly loved the Joy Sunday School Class.

Survived by three daughters, Sharron Holland, Vickie Ford and Gayle Ogden, grand children, nine great-grand children, two sisters, Stella Harris and Earlene Williams, a brother, J.D. Click and numerous nieces, nephews extended family and friends.

Preceded in death by her parents, her husband in 1997, her daughter and son-in-law, Wilma and Joe Preston, three sisters, Faye Moseley, Ann Haile, and Bess McGinnis, and two brothers, Raymond and Roy Click.

Funeral services will be August 2, 2010 at Southside Church. Burial will follow in the Santa Anna Cemetery under the direction of Davis-Morris Funeral Home.
