Pioneer Teacher of City Is Dead

One of Galveston's pioneers in the field of kindergarten teaching died Friday in San Antonio. She was Mrs. Julia Runge, 74,who in 2897 established the first kindergarten school in the City.

Mrs. Runge was the eldest child of the late Julius and Johanna Runge of this city, and resided ere until about 1916 she she moved to Houston and later to San Antonio. In addition to Henry J. she is survived by another brother, Julius H. of Dallas. Funeral services are pending according to Mr. Runge who left Friday afternoon for San Antonio.

Mrs. Julia Runge, age 73, of 910 W. Summit Ave., passed on at her home Friday. Survivors: brothers, Henry J. and Julius II Runge, several nephews and nieces. Service was Saturday at 3:30 o'clock at the Porter Loring Chapel.

Her remains were cremated and interred at Oakwood Cemetery, in Austin.
