James Wallace Abraham Sr., 92, of Downingtown, died Thursday, March 2, 2006, at his home.

He was the husband of Viola March Abraham and the late Dorothy Davis Abraham, who died in 1979.

He was born in Boyertown, the son of the late Thomas J. Sr. and the late Sara Verna March Abraham.

James graduated from Phoenixville High School in 1932.

For a number of years, he worked for Geisinger Plumbing and Heating, Phoenixville, and B.F. Goodrich in Oaks. He was a mechanical lab technician at the DuPont Experimental Station in Wilmington, Del., for 29 years until retiring.

He was a member of West Chester United Methodist Church since 1948. There he had been on the administrative board, and was past president of the board of trustees and past president of the Unity Class.

He was a member of West Goshen Lions Club and was active with Boy Scout Troop #14.

He was also a former member of West End Fire Deparment, Phoenixville, and past president of Great Valley Little League.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by his children, John E. Abraham, Nancy A. Zook, and James W. Abraham Jr. and wife Teresa; a stepson, Barry March; grandchildren, Karen, John, Sue, Kim, Linda, Chuck, Kathy, Dawn and James III; step-grandchildren, Amanda and Lauren; 13 great-grandchildren; and his brother, Thomas J. Abraham Jr.

In addition to his first wife, he was preceded in death by a sister, Mary Greenwood Kelly, and a son-in-law, Gary Zook.

Funeral services will be held 7:30 p.m., Monday, March 6, at West Chester United Methodist Church.

A visitation will be held from 6 to 7 p.m. at the church prior to the service.

Interment will be private in Birmingham-Lafayette Cemetery, West Chester.

Memorial gifts may be made to the West Chester United Methodist Church, 129 S. High St., West Chester, PA 19382; or Neighborhood Hospice, 795 East Marshall St. West Chester, PA 19380.
