BLACKSTONE Ronald H. Ron Champney, 65, passed away Tuesday, Jan. 12, 2010 in Sebastian, FL.
Born in Framingham, MA April 4, 1944, he was the son of the late Arthur G. and Germaine (Carbonneau) Champney.
The loving father of Arthur G. Champney II of Bellingham and the brother of Paul A. Champney and his wife, Constance, of Holliston, he leaves his nephews and niece, Mark, Daniel and Stephanie Champney. He was the former husband of Nancy E. (Peloquin) Champney of Bellingham. A resident of Bellingham for 10 years, formerly of Mendon, Bellingham and Holliston, he spent winters at his home in Sebastian, FL.
He owned Ron Champneys Used Cars in Mendon for 40 years until retiring and turning the business over to his son, now operating as Champneys Sales & Service.
He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy and member of VFW Post 7272 of Bellingham.
Ron raced cars in his younger days, and was an avid car collector, target shooter and fisherman. He loved boating and camping, and was a member of the Eagles Club in Sebastian.
He was a volunteer fireman in Bellingham, company founder and first president of the Snow Boggies Snowmobile Club in Bellingham, member and past president of the Mendon Lions Club, and member of the Elks Lodge of Franklin. He enjoyed life, being with his friends, and will be greatly missed. Funeral will be held on Tuesday, Jan.19, at 9:00AM from CARTIERS FUNERAL HOME, 151 So. Main St. (Rte 126), Bellingham, MA with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00AM at St. Blaise Church, 1158 So. Main St., Bellingham.
Interment will be in Scott Cemetery, Bellingham. Visiting hours are on Monday, Jan.18, from 5 to 8PM. Relatives and friends are invited to attend. In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Ronald H.
