Leonard was born March 2, 1906 in Ewing to Albert and Zella Larson. He grew up in Ewing and graduated from Ewing High School. He graduated from Wayne State College with a Bachelor's degree in education. He received a Master's degree from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln and had completed work toward a Doctorate in Philosophy degree at UNL.

After his college graduation, Mr Larson was superintendent of schools at Avoca, Syracuse, Ravenna, and McCook. He had also been a school administrator in Anchorage, Alaska and Kimball. He had been state deputy superintendent of schools from 1942 until 1944.

Mr Larson was the assistant superintendent and elementary coordinator in the North Platte public schools system from 1963 until his retirement in 1974.

He was a member of the First Presbyterian Church and the North Platte Rotary Club, a past president of the McCook Rotary Club and a member of the Nebraska School Masters Club.

Services will be held at the First Presbyterian Church with the Rev James E Clarke officiating. Burial will be in the Floral Lawns Memorial Gardens. A memorial to the church has been established.

Leonard and Eunice were married in O'Neill, Holt Co, Nebraska on April 6, 1928.
