From his obituary that appeared in the November 2nd 1922 edition of the Morganton News=Herald:

Prominent Figure and Leader in Community Succumbs to Stroke of Paralysis; Funeral Today

"Dr. Leslie was a native of Concord. He came to Morganton about twenty-eight years ago and established a drug store. For twenty-five years Leslie's Drug Store was one of the leading drug stores in this section of the state. Three years ago he sold it to the Davis Drug Co.

"As a business man Dr. Leslie was held in highest esteem. He was always interested in every movement that meant the advancement of the town.

"Surviving are his wife, who was Miss Annie McKesson, daughter of C.F. McKesson and Mrs. McKesson; two sons, William and Charlie who have been associated with him in the lumber business, and one daughter, MIss Annie Leslie. Four sisters and one brother also survive: Mrs. Thomas Ross; Mrs. (?) Jarrett; Misses Lena and Betty Leslie of Concord; and Mr. John Leslie of New York."

The funeral was held at Grace Church with the Rev. N. Duncan conducting the services.
