Joe Pfister, lifelong resident of the Gridley area and well-known rancher, died Friday afternoon at his home following a lengthy illness. He was 58.
He was born October 15, 1919, and had operated the family ranch east of the Feather River for many years. He was a member of the Farm Bureau and the Butte County Historical Society.
Surviving are his wife, Bea of the Gridley home; his mother, Mrs. Minta Pfister of Brownsville; a son, Tobe of Gridley; and a daughter, JoAnn McCracken, of Gridley; five grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be 2:00 pm Tuesday (Nov 22) at the Gridley Funeral Chapel with Rev. Rick Cunningham of the First Baptist Church officiating. Nancy McMurtry will bee the organist and will accompany soloist Noel Weeks, who will sing, "Abide With Me.: Rev. Robert Meanor of the First Presbyterian Church will give the graveside committal at Gridley-Biggs Cemetery where the interment will take place.
