She was the daughter of Earl and Nettie McCully Utterback. She attended schools in McAlester and graduated from McAlester High School. She married R.T. Bill Freeman on Feb. 10, 1946, in McAlester. They had been in Pittsburg County since 1948 when they moved from Borger, Texas. She worked as a secretary for J.G. Puterbaugh for 35 years before working at Tom Garrard Investments and later for Allece Garrard at the Garrard Ardeneum. She was a member of the Second Baptist Church of McAlester and was tenured as the oldest living member. She was also a member of the National Active and Retired Employees Association, Chapter No. 577. Survivors include three sons and daughters-in-law, Tom and Mary Lou Freeman, of McAlester, Dick and Janet Freeman, Sherman, Texas, and Larry and Donna Freeman, Asheville, N.C. Also, one sister, Edna Earl Tannehill, of McAlester; one brother and sister-in-law, Jim and Jimmie Ann Utterback, of McAlester; nine grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, R.T. Bill Freeman, on March 15, 1995; a brother, Bob Utterback, and a foster sister, Ruby Phillips. Pallbearers will be Bob Burow, Sam Utterback, Chris Freeman, James Earl Tannehill, Jerry Tannehill and Jake Tannehill. Honorary pallbearers will be Billy Barry, Jim Utterback, J.H. George, Bobby Joe Utterback and Jeff Freeman. Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Friday at Bishop Chapel of Memories with Tom Freeman and Dick Freeman officiating. Burial will be at Memory Gardens Cemetery. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Bishop Funeral Service of McAlester.
