Gerard E. Daniels, 72, of No. Waterboro, died January 21 at the Goodall Hospital in Sanford after a brief illness.

He was born in Westbrook on December 8, 1937, a son of Aimee and Claudia (Lemelin) Daniels and attended Westbrook schools.

Gerard went to work in the Dana Warp Mill in Westbrook, then was employed with the S. D. Warren paper mill for 35 years, retiring several years ago. In his retirement, he worked at several odd jobs.

Gerard was a generous man whose first priority was his family. A very close second however, was the outdoors. He loved to go camping, loved to fish and to hunt. He once went Caribou hunting in Canada and also traveled to Alaska. He also enjoyed woodworking.

He was a former communicant of St. Hyacinth's Church in Westbrook.

A resident of No. Waterboro for 10 years, he had resided previously in Lyman and Standish.

He was predeceased by a son, Dennis Daniels in 2005.

Survivors include his wife of 52 years, Ann (St. Pierre) Daniels of No. Waterboro, son Michael Daniels and his better half Natalie Fitch of Wilton, son Jody Daniels and his wife Kelly of Leavenworth, KS, daughter Theresa Murphy and her husband Bill of Sanford, daughter Heidi Lowell and her husband Larry of Derry, NH, daughter Linda Daniels of Biddeford, son Philip Daniels of Lyman, son Nathaniel Lee Daniels of No. Waterboro, 20 grandhildren, 11 great grandchildren, and siblings Robert Daniels of Texas, Leo Daniels of Ohio, Claude Daniels of NH, Arthur Daniels of Hiram, Rita Tanguay of Gray, Sylvia Dow of Buxton, Laurence Daniels of Ohio and Jeannette Poirier of Arizona.

A funeral service will be conducted on Tuesday at 11:00 AM at the Carll-Heald & Black Funeral Home, 580 Main Street, Springvale, where relatives and friends are invited to visit with the family from 10 to 11 AM.
