Records indicate that he was a big man with his top weight at about 300 pounds and it was said, "he was the only man in his regiment that could lift the breach end of a cannon."
Henry was also a member of the music group in the 21st as a fiddle player.

Family stories relate that Henry's grandchild, James L. Boltz, son of Franklin, built the church next to the Pleasant Ridge cemetery; that James "loved to eat" and weighed 600 pounds; that he hurt his back and was bedridden for a long time.
