He moved from Toledo, Ohio to Sioux City, Iowa in 1913 and began working for Railroad by 1917 like a number of the Muldowney family members before him. When Harry first began working on the railroad he worked for the New York Central Railroad. In 1922 he switched and worked for the Omaha railroad and continued working for them for 19 years; up until his tragic death. Harry's was switchman like his father at the time of his death.
In 1941, Harry was assumed to have fallen while working and was found crushed between a train engine and a boxcar.
