*According to the manager of the Russian Orthodox Cemetery in Streator, Illinois, the name "Kucsecska" was the birth name of her grandfather (Peter Cook Sr. (1879-1962). He immigrated from Austria-Hungary. Most of his 12 children had that name when they were born. When he became a naturalized citizen here, the name was changed from "Kucsecska" to "Cook" so all the children had to change their names too.
Peter Cook Jr. died Wednesday morning, March 14, 2007 at St. Mary's Hospital in Streator.
Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Friday at Hagi Funeral Home in Streator with the Rev. Butch Ringwald officiating.
Mr. Cook was born March 30, 1921 in Streator, to Peter and Anna (Wargo) Cook Sr. He married Norma R. Clark on September 26, 1948, in Benton, Arkansas.
He was a 1939 graduate of Streator Township High School.
He is survived by his wife; a daughter: Debra (Alan) Fulton of Streator; and a brother: Samuel of Streator.
He was preceded in death by a daughter: Pamela Cook (who had died March 7); a son: David; four sisters: Mary Leese, Pauline Gingrich, Helen Mitchell and Ann Zelenock; and six brothers: Steve, Andrew, George, William, Matthew and Robert John.
