Marilla, New York – December 9 – Funeral services for William Tankesley, 81, of Eastwood Road, Marilla, were held December 5 at the Ewell Funeral Home with the Rev. J. Wesley Babcock of Marilla Methodist Church officiating. Burial was in Evergreen Cemetery, that village.
Mr. Tankesley died Monday night In Mercy Hospital, Buffalo, where he was taken after a fall that afternoon, in his home. Medical Examiner Paul J. Ruteckl said that the fall resulted from a plugged artery. Mr. Tankesley was born October 10, 1869, in Staunton, Va. He came north 15 years ago and located in Orchard Park. Later he moved to Clarence and five years ago, the family moved to Marilla.
Besides his wife, Bettie, Mr. Tankesley is survived by five sons, Herbert L., Oscar R., Marilla; Irvine D., Staunton; William E Depew, and James, West Seneca; three daughters, Ruby O., Marilla; Juanita B., Alden, and Mrs. Elizabeth Nutty, East Aurora.
