Urias Delarrey Autrey (Private, Company M, 6th Alabama Infantry Regiment) Born March 17, 1839. He enlisted on September 1, 1862 at Braggs Store, Lowndes County, Alabama. He was wounded on July 1, 1863 at Gettysburg. He was lucky to have been captured since his wound was such that his left arm had to be amputated at the shoulder. Urias was in the Camp Letterman USA General Hospital at Gettysburg until September 16 when he was transferred to the USA General Hospital in Baltimore. There he was paroled on September 25, 1863 at the Receiving and Wayside Hospital in Richmond, Virginia, Urias was furloughed on October 3, 1863. He returned to his home in Macedonia, Lowndes County, Alabama. The community of Macedonia no longer exists, but of course the cemetery, which is not easily accessible, is still there. Urias died June 24, 1906 and is buried in the old Macedonia Cemetery. Urias' wife Mary Jane Autrey is buried at Ft. Dale Cemetery, State Road 185, north of Greenville Butler County Alabama. Family members placed a marker beside her grave in memory of Urias.

The Macedonia Cemetery is actually quite large, but in 1987, there were less than ten gravestones readily visible. It was in a heavily wooded area. Today it is part of a privately owned tract.

Note; Information supplied by Urias Delarrey Autrey's great-grandson; Ben Autrey Boswell, Jr.
