Thirteen-year-old Leigh Marine Occhi disappeared from her home on August 27, 1992. She was getting ready to start the eighth grade at Tupelo Middle School and was still in her night gown at 7:40 a.m. when her mother left their home in Tupelo, Mississippi, for work. She was waiting at home for her grandmother to pick her up, as bands of rain from Hurricane Andrew moved over Tupelo, and the Gulf Coast was under a hurricane alert. It was the first time she'd waited home alone. When her mother called home from work a few minutes later, there was no answer, so she returned home to find her daughters bloody night gown in her bedroom. Blood and hair were stuck to a door frame and a blood trail led down the hallway across the living room to the back door. One week later, her mother received her glasses in the mail. She has not been seen since and her remains have never been found. There are no clues and the case remains open. A reward is offered and anyone with information concerning Leigh Occhi's disappearance is asked to call Crime Stoppers of Northeast Mississippi at 800 773-TIPS.
