A graduate of the University of Tennessee, he most recently worked for several large hospital corporations in Saudi Arabia, New York and Florida before retiring in the late 1980s. He was of the Baptist faith and a proud member of Perseverance Masonic Lodge 59, Plymouth, N.C., where he became a Master Mason.He was preceded in death by his parents, Ellis and Edith Melton; and two brothers, Roy H. and Edwin Melton.
Survivors include three daughters and two sons-in-law, Cindy and Rusty Wright, Kingston, Kathy McKinzie and Robin and Jimmy Browning, all of Houston; five grandchildren, Hollye Selway, Kevin Garcia, Matthew Wright, Sarah Wright and Cara Browning; two great-grandchildren, Gabby Selway and Troy Selway; a special sister-in-law, Liz Melton; two sisters and brothers-in-law, Margie and C.G. Sexton and Wanda and James Smith; and four nephews and nieces, Mark Melton, Tammy Melton, David Smith and Sharon Fuller.The family will receive friends from noon to 2 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 23, in Schubert Funeral Home, Wartburg. Memorial service will follow, with the Rev. Mason Goodman officiating. Burial will be at Clear Creek Cemetery,Morgan COunty Tennessee.
