Henry Charles Burton was born in Hertford, Hertfordshire, England on the 4th of October 1869. At the age of 22, Henry departed Liverpool, England and arrived in New York Harbor on August 8, 1892 and soon moved to Mobile.

Henry C. Burton was married about 1898 to Frances Irwin Huntington, daughter of Benjamin Wolcott Huntington and Eliza W. Wade. They lived for a time in Moss Point, Mississippi, moving to Mobile in 1903. Their first child, Henry Irwin Huntington Burton was born in November 1904, and died six months later. Irwin Huntington Burton died of heart disease shortly after the birth of their daughter Zelia Margaret Burton in 1906. Zelia died in November 1911.

After France died, Henry married Miss Alma Laura Alston, eldest daughter of John and Mary "Mollie" [née Muse] Alston on December 11 1907. This union was blessed with had the following known children:
John Alston (1910-1983)
Mary Elizabeth (1912-1991)

On January 24th 1922, Henry Charles Burton became a naturalization citizen of United States.
