Born in Boston, MA, a graduate of Watertown High School, he worked as a fire lieutenant for the Newton Fire Department in Newton, MA, until moving to West Hartford in 1953.
He served as a volunteer for the American Red Cross, was a former president of the Elmwood Drum Corp, and was a member of the West Hartford Squires. Mr. Lawson was employed by the former CarlLaFleurCo. as a food broker, retiring thirty-five years ago.
He is survived by his three children, Carol Brosmith of Farmington; Al Lawson and his wife Roz of Bloomfield; and Beth Skolnick and her husband Steve of Simsbury; his sister, Marie Bancroft of West Hartford; a sister-in-law, Alice LaFleur; ten grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.
The funeral will be held on Thursday at 10:15 a.m. from the Molloy Funeral Home, 906 Farmington Avenue, West Hartford, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 a.m. in the Church of St. Brigid, New Britain Avenue, West Hartford.
Burial will follow in Fairview Cemetery, West Hartford.
Calling hours will be held on Wednesday from 4:00-8:00 p.m. at the Funeral Home.
